I kicked off 2025 with The Party Kit Network's Sydney meet-up, headed up by founder Isabel Mack, and Victorian-based sustainability advocate, Erin Rhoads (also known as The Rogue Ginger).
When I first started my sustainability journey, Erin's book, "Waste Not' was a fantastic resource. It was also through Erin that I became aware of The Party Kit Network and I was inspired to start my own kit. This has eventually led to me launching a fully-fledged business!
The meet-up was a lovely afternoon and I walked away with a few more contacts, a greater understanding of community initiatives, some exciting ideas and a slight pep in my step (because let's be honest, the solo-business owner path is challenging and lonely at times!)
Launched by Isabel in the UK in June 2019, The Party Kit Network aims to connect those planning a party with their local party kit and works to support those who run kits. Part of the emerging sharing economy, party kits are locally-run boxes of reusable tableware and decorations. Kits are rented within the community for events and returned to be used again.
Whether used as a side hustle, community fundraising, borrowing service or as part of an existing library, reuseable party kits are a fabulous way to save money and waste, and promote sustainable party practices.
The Party Kit Network has over 520 members across 9 countries. We're currently at 119 Australian members, and we'd love to crack the 200-mark by the end of this year!
So if you're interested in finding out more about how to start your own party kit, or you know someone who is, flick me a note, or contact Isabel at Party Kit Network directly.
